Monday, the University of Indianapolis concludes the Faculty Artist Series with the music of French, Spanish, Hungarian and Argentinian composers. The concert begins at 7:30 in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center. For more information, call 788-3255.


Tuesday, April 8

Tuesday, the Indiana State Museum presents Quilting Blocks and Binding Threads. These textiles, many from the museum's acclaimed Pottinger Collection of Indiana Amish Quilts, were created lovingly over time by Hoosiers to mark milestones or comfort loved ones or strangers in times of need. Wednesday, April 9

Wednesday, the University of Indianapolis Crimson Express will perform. Crimson Express is the university's pop and jazz student vocal ensemble. The concert begins at 7:30. For more information, call 788-2135.


Thursday, April 10

Thursday, the Indiana Historical Society presents Saving The National Treasures as part of the Cole Porter Room Film Series. This film tells the  story of a group of conservators, engineers, and historians who dedicated themselves to preserving America's charters of freedom: The original U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence. Friday, April 11

Friday, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents Dance of Death. Pianist Louis Lortie will perform the piece as well as another Lizst composition. The orchestra will also perform works by Dvorak and Brahms. For more information, call 639-4300.


Saturday, April 12

Saturday, the University of Indianapolis Theatre Department presents Hedda Gabler. Ibsen's great social drama of a caged woman in the late nineteenth century explores her tormented desire for escape and her yearning for individual and spiritual freedom. Performances start at 8PM in Ransburg Auditorium. For more information, call 788-3251.


Sunday, April 13

Sunday, the Indianapolis Museum of Art continues showcasing works by Afghan artist Lida Abdul. Her work attempts to understand the destruction and political unrest that has ravaged her country for the past several decades. Abdul's installation at the IMA will include a selection of videos that explore the interconnection between architecture and identity. For more information, call 923-1331.
